David Dumont, MD, Named Senior Medical Director at Mid Coast–Parkview Health

BRUNSWICK, ME – David Dumont, MD, MD, FACEP, FAAFP, has been appointed to Senior Medical Director of Quality and Acute Care at Mid Coast–Parkview Health. In this new role, he will manage acute care medical services, providing leadership and oversight of quality and safety. Dr. Dumont joins a robust team that supports medical staff services, education, and strategic accountable care initiatives throughout the organization.

 “We are very fortunate to have Dr. Dumont in this new leadership role,” said Scott Mills, MD, Vice President of Medical Staff Administration and Chief Medical Officer at Mid Coast–Parkview Health. “He has extensive experience in this arena and is very capable of providing system-wide accountability and management of our acute care services. His leadership allows us to continue to deliver the highest-quality care with emphasis on patient satisfaction and cost reduction.”

Dr. Dumont joined the active medical staff at Mid Coast Hospital in spring 2015 as a hospitalist. For the previous 26 years, he worked as a physician at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln, Maine where he was an emergency physician and hospitalist and started the organization’s hospitalist program. He held various leadership positions during his tenure at Penobscot Valley, culminating with Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Emergency Medicine. 

Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Dumont earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine followed by a Family Practice residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and of the American Academy of Family Practice. In 2013, he completed the McAfee Fellowship Program, an intensive Physician Executive Leadership Program offered through the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership and the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Dr. Dumont is a member of the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine and is the Chairperson of Licensing. He has also served on a variety of other statewide organizations.
