Eaton Peabody Attorneys 'Top Rated' by Super Lawyers 2011

MAINE - December, 2011 Four attorneys from Eaton Peabody, a Maine law firm serving New England and Atlantic Canada, were 'top rated' by Super Lawyers New England Magazine in 13 areas of practice. The 2011 edition announces the inclusion of Berney Kubetz, Dan McKay, Matt Raynes and Matt Worthen based on the organization's survey and peer review selection process.

Bernard J. Kubetz

General Litigation; Personal Injury Plaintiff: General; First Amendment/Media/Advertising.

Kubetz celebrates his fifth year of being recognized by the publication in the areas of General Litigation, Personal Injury, general plaintiff matters, and First Amendment/Media and Advertising. He's a Shareholder of the Firm and Chair of the Firm's litigation practice group, where his practice includes commercial disputes, product liability, employment discrimination and personal injury. He chaired the Maine Bar Association's Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution and was cited for his knowledge of communications law during recent state public broadcasting coverage of a public hearing. Kubetz is also peer ranked in Chambers USA and Best Lawyers as a leader in his field.

Daniel G. McKay

Business/Corporate; Mergers & Acquisitions; Banking.

This is McKay's fourth year in being noted for his expertise in the areas Business/Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions and Banking. In addition to serving as Eaton Peabody's Managing Partner, McKay represents business entities and financial institutions in a variety of transactional matters. He also serves as general outside corporate counsel to clients of all sizes in a variety of business sectors. He regularly addresses continuing legal education and business groups on issues relating to U.S. - Canadian cross border trade, and serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maine Business School teaching business law to MBA candidates. Matthew S. Raynes

Raynes, joined the ranks as a Rising Star, a category created by the publication to note 'top up-and-coming' in the legal profession, for Employment & Labor and Immigration in 2008. Chair of both the Employment & Labor and Immigration practices as well as a Shareholder of the Firm, he represents employers in the private and public sectors handling a wide range of labor and employment matters including employment-based immigration. Raynes is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Society for Human Resource Management and Human Resource Association of Eastern Maine.     

Matthew C. Worthen

Business/Corporate; Real Estate; Land Use/Zoning

The group welcomes Worthen on his first year of inclusion in Super Lawyers as a Rising Star. The honor is based on his work in the areas of Business/Corporate, Real Estate and Land Use/Zoning. He concentrates his practice in real estate law, commercial lending and business counseling advising individual and business clients on issues related to municipal law, land use regulation, and real estate development, and acts as legal counsel to local municipalities. Worthen is a resident of the Firm's Ellsworth office where he enjoys being active in the community occupying seats on both the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.
