Mid Coast Orthopedic Group Advances in Hand Specialty

BRUNSWICK, ME – Peter Hutchinson, MD, has joined Mid Coast Medical Group–Orthopedics and the active medical staff of Mid Coast Hospital as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He joins the team of four board-certified surgeons, offering comprehensive orthopedic surgery and treatment services, including shoulder, hip, and knee replacement.

 Dr. Hutchinson earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed an internship in General Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program in Boston. After completion of the Tufts Combined Hand Surgery Fellowship in Boston, he became employed by the Philadelphia Hand Center in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hutchinson and the Mid Coast Medical Group-Orthopedics surgeons are co-located with the Orthopedic Therapy Center, a team of six physical and occupational therapists, offering acute injury therapy and post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation. Two of the team members are Certified Hand Therapists (CHT), specializing in the rehabilitation of tendon repairs and rehabilitation therapy for hand surgery.

As a fellowship trained hand surgeon he brings a degree of expertise to Mid Coast that we have not previously experienced,” said Lisa Khoury, MD, a surgeon with Mid Coast Medical Group-Orthopedics. “As a team with our certified hand therapists, we are now able to provide a higher level of care to our community."
