National Rehabilitation Awareness Week Celebrated September 20-26

September 22, 2015

BRUNSWICK, ME — Every year, National Rehabilitation Awareness Week focuses attention on America's more than 750,000 licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language pathologists. They provide an array of services to help improve the quality of life for millions of individuals. At a special recognition event scheduled for September 23, senior administration, direct supervisors, and colleagues will honor 100 Mid Coast–Parkview Health rehabilitation therapists and pathologists for their unwavering commitment to deliver the highest quality patient care.

Randee Reynolds, Vice President of Community Health and Integration said, “Helping our patients reengage in the activities that they enjoy, living safely and independently in their own homes, and returning to full and productive lives is at the heart of rehabilitation services we provide. The exceptional physical and occupational therapists and speech and language pathologists throughout Mid Coast–Parkview Health are dedicated to understanding and providing the very best care.”

Traditionally, ‘Rehab Week’ is devoted to highlighting the range of rehabilitation disciplines and techniques available to the community. Rehabilitation professionals help restore function, maximize safety, optimize independence, and support the highest quality of life for all who depend on their extensive skills. They provide care in multiple settings including hospitals, homes, long-term care establishments, outpatient facilities, and academic and research institutions.

“We are so grateful for the team of rehabilitation therapists, working throughout the Mid Coast–Parkview Health system, for their hard work and dedication to helping our patients achieve maximum physical and mental capability after an illness, injury, or surgery," said Lois Skillings, President and CEO of Mid Coast–Parkview Health. "Our therapy staff works one-on-one with patients to deliver high-quality, compassionate, individualized services, which are so often an essential part of a patient's recovery process.”
