New SBA Tool Serves as a Matchmaker for Lenders and Borrowers

June 5, 2015

Are you a small business in need of financing, but struggling to find time to get out there to talk to potential lenders?  Not sure who to talk to or if a lender would even consider your request?  Well, SBA.gov has a wonderful, easy to use tool for you.  LINC (Leveraging Information and Networks to Access Capital) will allow you to answer a few basic questions and have limited information shared with potential lenders who can then choose to “opt in” to have their contact information shared with you so a meeting time to discuss your financing needs can be scheduled.  It saves time for both the small business and the lender!  What type of lender will you hear from?  Banks, Credit Unions, and SBA Alternative Lenders all are on the receiving end of LINC survey information, so you may hear from any SBA lender that has opted to participate in LINC.  In addition, you can indicate whether or not you’d like technical assistance or business counseling which the SBA’s Alternative Lenders all offer.  To use this service simply go to www.sba.gov and click the button that says “SBA LINC TOOL”.  There are more than 300 lenders currently participating in LINC with more being added every day! If you are a lender and aren’t sure if your institution has opted in to use LINC please contact Diane Sturgeon at the SBA’s Maine District Office at diane.sturgeon@sba.gov for more information.
