Volunteer Fair at Thornton Oaks introduces opportunities for service to area residents

Thornton Oaks and United Way of Mid Coast Maine will host a free Volunteer Fair on Wednesday, May 9, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Thornton Oaks, 25 Thornton Way in Brunswick.  The event is open to the public.

Representatives from 18 local nonprofit organizations will be on hand to talk about their volunteer programs and benefits.  Some of the groups seeking volunteers include College Guild, Mid Coast Senior Health Center, Five Rivers Arts Alliance, Respite Care and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick.

“This is a great opportunity for people of all ages, students, families, retirees, and folks new to the area to learn about volunteer activities in the Brunswick/Topsham area,” said Angie Buxton, Volunteer Initiative Coordinator at the United Way of Mid Coast Maine.   “Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet new people, explore career and personal interests, build job skills, and make a difference in one’s community.”
