Protecting Maine’s Environment in 2020 and Beyond: Progress and Challenges 6:00 PM Topsham Public Library , TOPSHAM

Join us for a presentation about significant progress for Maine’s environment that has occurred in the past two legislative sessions and challenges ahead at the state and federal levels. Pete Didisheim, Advocacy Director for the Natural Resources Council of Maine, will provide an up-to-date, insider’s view of what’s been happening at the State House to promote clean energy, climate action, clean water, land conservation, and reductions in plastic pollution. Didisheim is one of Maine’s top experts on environmental policy, with more than two decades of experience at the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

Pete Didisheim brings more than 30 years of professional experience in senior-level policy positions to his work at NRCM, where he provides overall management and strategic direction for NRCM’s advocacy program. Pete works with NRCM’s advocacy staff on legislative and issue campaigns, research and analysis, and lobbying and public outreach. He serves as NRCM’s leading advocate at the State House, tracking nearly every environmental issue considered by Maine lawmakers. Prior to starting at NRCM in 1996, Pete was Chief of Staff for U.S. Congressman George Brown, Jr. (D-CA), Deputy Chief of Staff of the House Science Committee, and Special Assistant to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Hazel O’Leary. He also was a Research Associate at the Union of Concerned Scientists. He served as a Board member of Maine Conservation Voters from 1998 to 2018 and as a Trustee of Unity College from 2005 to 2009. For the past seven years, he has chaired the planning committee for an annual national conference of state-based environmental organizations.
