This course, conducted over seven consecutive Thursday evenings followed by one full Saturday in the field with the bees, will give students the knowledge and skills they need to get your equipment assembled, get your bees, and manage them through the entire first season including harvesting your first honey crop. Discussions will include the flowering plants that benefit honeybees, races of honeybees and their attributes, the lifecycle of the honeybee, and the diseases and pests that affect the honeybee. Hands on will include installing bees in the hive and assembling equipment. Evening segments will be conducted in the classroom, and the final class will be held in the field on Saturday.
