BTLT’s Tom Settlemire Community Garden is holding a fantastic plant and bake sale on Saturday June 1st! Proceeds will benefit the Community Garden, including the Common Good Garden where produce is raised for Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program’s food bank and soup kitchen. To make it a success, we need 'plant' donations! Specifically, we need healthy perennials, shrubs, annuals and herbs, especially unusual varieties. You can also support the garden by attending the plant sale, which will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 65 Baribeau Drive, in Brunswick (very close to the garden!) from 9:00 AM TO 2:00 PM. Mark your calendars! Unfortunately, because of the severe winter moth infestation in Harpswell we are unable to take any plants dug from that area. However, Harpswell residents can participate by starting annual seedlings, provided you do not use any garden soil as the winter moth larvae overwinter in the soil. We need annuals and appreciate any donations. Bring plants to the Masonic Lodge on Thursday May 30 or Friday, May 31 between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. If no one is there, leave plants at rear door. There will be directional signage. If you cannot bring plants during those times, please contact Priscilla Smith at priscilla35usa@comcast.net or 729-3484 to arrange an alternate delivery time and location.
