Community Calendar

Mid Coast Hospital and Maine Center for Cancer Medicine are launching an educational series focused on improving the lifestyles of cancer survivors. Open to anyone in the community touched by cancer, "Embracing Life after Cancer” is an informative series, covering a range of topics that address the unique needs of cancer survivors as they move beyond diagnosis and treatment.

The spring 2014 calendar begins March 20, and includes seven sessions offered by area experts discussing the physical, emotional, and nutritional health of cancer survivors. Each session will address questions and concerns, while providing information and resources to support the ongoing health of patients and their families. All sessions will be held 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Mid Coast Hospital and are free and open to the public. Schedule and topics are as follows:

Tuesday, April 1: Physical Challenges after Treatment
Monday, April 14: Psychological Reactions to Cancer Diagnosis and Ways to Cope
Monday, May 5: Genetics and Second Cancers
Tuesday, May 13: Changing Bodies, Changing Minds
Wednesday, May 28: Nutrition and Cancer
Wednesday, June 11: Moving Toward Health: Exercise and Survival
