The 10x10 Benefit Art Exhibit & Sale, co-sponsored by Arts Are Elementary and Points of View Artists, is an annual fundraiser for Arts Are Elementary. Since 2008, the 10x10 event has been enthusiastically supported by artists, art collectors, local sponsors and community volunteers. To date, the 10x10 Benefit has raised $58,000 for Arts Are Elementary.

Arts Are Elementary is a local nonprofit program founded in 1980 that brings visual artists, writers and performers into the Brunswick elementary schools. The program reaches all children in kindergarten through the 5th grade with a myriad of fun, inspiring opportunities for creative expression.

AAE coordinates artists' residencies with the school's curriculum. Through these residencies and special concerts, students explore a wide range of art forms from cultures around the world.

Each year, the 10x10 Benefit represents approximately 150 Maine artists who create 1-2 original works of art in any medium, all with a finished size of 10”x10”. Each piece is ready to hang and priced at $200. If sold, the artist and Arts Are Elementary each receive $100.

This year the 10x10 Benefit has new times and framing options. The event and reception on Friday, September 26, will start at 6 p.m. and will run until 9 p.m. And for the first time, framing is optional for artwork on canvas, board or panel.

"We at Arts Are Elementary are so very grateful for all of the hard work that the 10x10 Committee puts into our annual 10x10 Art Exhibit and Sale,” says AAE’s executive director Kristi Hatrick. “The artwork is amazing, the reception is superb, the company is fabulous, and the proceeds help support Arts Are Elementary. Simply put, we couldn't do what we do without the help and support of our community, primarily though their participation in the 10x10."
