Invasive Plants workshop TBA Crystal Spring Farm , Brunswick

Invasive plants, which can quickly spread to unmanageable levels, are a growing threat to natural and working landscapes. They outcompete native species, alter wildlife habitat, replace native foods with (often) less nutritious foods, and have other harmful effects. Prevention is key, particularly in Maine where we have not yet experienced invasives on the scale that many states have. The first step is learning what invasives look like and mapping their location. Kristen Puryear of Maine’s Natural Areas Program, Amanda Devine of Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and other talented natural resource experts will teach us how to identify the worst invasives in our region and document their location. Most of the workshop will be in the field at Crystal Spring Farm. Spaces may be limited so RSVP soon to ensure a spot. Come learn how you can help protect our native plant and animal communities from these unwanted intruders
