Community Calendar

Mid Coast Hospital and New England Cancer Specialists will continue the “Embracing Life after Cancer” series on September 23. This informative series covers a range of topics that address the unique needs of cancer survivors as they move beyond diagnosis and treatment.

The fall 2014 calendar includes six sessions offered by area experts discussing the physical, emotional, and nutritional health of cancer survivors. Each session will address questions and concerns, while providing information and resources to support the ongoing health of patients and their families. All sessions will be held 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., in the Café Conference Rooms at Mid Coast Hospital and are free and open to the public. Schedule and topics are as follows:

• Thursday, September 23: Moving Beyond Treatment: An Overview of Survivorship
• Tuesday, October 7: Physical Challenges after Treatment
• Monday, October 20: Psychological Reactions to Cancer Diagnosis and Ways to Cope
• Monday, November 3: Genetics and Second Cancers
• Monday, November 17: Nutrition and Cancer: Changing Your Habits Does Matter
• Monday, December 1: Moving Toward Health: Exercise and Survival

Mid Coast Hospital’s Cancer Care program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer for the quality of its comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care. The team of medical oncologists, hematologists, and surgeons is committed to cancer screening and prevention, the earliest possible diagnosis, and aggressive and advanced treatment of all types of cancers.

Mid Coast Hospital and New England Cancer Specialists launched the educational series in spring 2014, with the goal of helping to improve the lifestyles of cancer survivors.
