Community Calendar

Student artists from Mt. Ararat High School will exhibit their work at an opening, Wednesday, January 7, 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at Thornton Oaks Retirement Community. The exhibit will include diverse subjects including ceramics, photography, sculpture, painting drawing and digital art. Art Department teachers, Sarah Cowperthwaite, Christine Del Rossi, and Zachary Fields, all practicing artists, recruited the student artists and organized the show. During the opening reception, the students will comment on their pieces. The art will remain up for viewing through February 11. Call Thornton Oaks at 373-4600 during business to ask about viewing times.

The school’s art department “works very hard to foster an environment that is safe for young artists to explore, take risks and realize their full potential as artists. The aim is to awaken and inspire each student’s ability to express his or herself in a supportive and nurturing environment.”

The public is invited to the art opening. There is no charge and refreshments will be served.
