Butterfly Release 11:00 AM Hospice House - Stetson Road , Auburn

– On August 8h, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice (AHCH) will hold its 7th annual Butterfly Release Celebration at the Hospice House on Stetson Road in Auburn. The event is a unique opportunity to remember and honor loved ones by dedicating a butterfly. Guests will share memories, enjoy music and light refreshments. The highlight of the celebration will be the reading of names of all the dedicated butterflies and then the mass release of hundreds of beautiful butterflies.

Butterfly dedications are $25 each, one name per butterfly and can be made online at www.ahchbutterfly.org. Paper dedication forms will also be available at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Hospice House on Stetson Road in Auburn or at their Lewiston Office on Strawberry Avenue. Butterfly Dedications can also be purchased over the phone by calling (207)795-9537. Proceeds from the Butterfly Release Celebration benefit patient care and family support services at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Hospice House.

November of 2015 marks 10 years that the Hospice House has been open and as such the Butterfly Release Celebration plans to honor this anniversary.  Bonnie McHugh, Butterfly Release Planning Committee Chair, said “The Hospice House is an invaluable asset to our communities.  Events like these are so important to help ensure that everyone needing care at the Hospice House receives it, regardless of their ability to pay.  We are so excited to help recognize 10 years of caring and compassion at the Hospice House and look forward to many, many more.”

All community members are welcome to dedicate a butterfly. No prior affiliation with AHCH is needed. Your dedication will include the release of a Butterfly and the names of those being honored will be read at the event and listed in the program booklet. There will also be a raffle table as well as kids’ crafts the day of the event.  The celebration begins at 11:00am.  Parking is available in front of Flagship Cinemas on Center Street and shuttles will transport guests to the Hospice House.  Shuttles run from 10:00 – 10:45 and seating is first come, first serve so guests should arrive early to reserve their seat.

Karen Nuckols, a past Butterfly Release Celebration guest said "I just wanted to tell you how wonderful the Butterfly Release ceremony was on Saturday. What a joy to have been a participant! A butterfly landed on my husband's hat and refused to leave. Then she landed on my back and wouldn't leave. I think it was Nancy Smoak, my sister, or a butterfly she sent: and I heard someone say, 'That's Grammy saying goodbye" about the same butterfly. So moving! Thank you to everyone at AHCH who is involved with this incredible program! We will be talking about it for months to come."

The 2015 Butterfly Release Celebration is generously sponsored by The Chapman House – Home for Senior Women, Bangor Savings Bank, Bedard Medical Supplies, HoneyWell HomMed, Fortin Group Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, New England Home Therapies, Oxford Federal Credit Union, Oxford Networks, and United Ambulance Service. Media support provided by Gleason Media Services and WMTW News 8.  Sponsorships are still available at varying levels.  Contact the AHCH Development Department at Development@ahch.org or (207)795-9428 for more information on sponsorships.
