University of Maine Cooperative Extension Cumberland County Holds Annual Meeting 6:00 PM U Maine Regional Learning Center , Falmouth, Maine

Falmouth, ME – The public is invited to the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Cumberland County Extension Association to be held on Wednesday, September 9th starting at 6:00 PM at the UMaine Regional Learning Center in Falmouth. Volunteers from all Univeristy of Maine Cooperative Extension program areas will be honored.

 Maine State Senator Justin Alfond will speak about "Growing Maine's Agricultural Future: Kids and Local Food" in his keynote address. Senator Alfond has prioritized student hunger, higher education success and economic and workforce development and passed a bill to end hunger in Maine. Senator Alfond is an active member of several civic, political and philanthropic organizations. He serves on several boards of directors, including Avesta Housing, Opportunity Maine, and the New England Secondary School Consortium. He lives with his wife Rachael, their two young children, and dog in Portland.

 The Cumberland County Extension Association will prepare a light meal for attendees starting at 5pm, prior to the meeting. For dessert we will enjoy the delicious results of the annual Pie Bake-Off!  Do you have a favorite pie recipe?  We invite you to enter the bake-off sponsored by King Arthur Flour and share your scrumptious dessert!  All recipes will become part of our UMaine Extension Cookbook.  Thank you! Whether you choose to enter the pie bake-off or not, we look forward to seeing you there!
