Explore Merrymeeting Bay Bike Ride 10:00 AM Mailly Waterfront Park , Bowdoinham

Explore Merrymeeting Bay By Bike on July 17th:
Three free rides visit farms, art studios, and scenery during Bowdoinham's Open Farm Day.

Merrymeeting Trail and the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust are hosting three, free, led bike rides on July 17th for the 4th Annual Explore Merrymeeting Bay Bike Ride. These rides will tour through the stunning farms and scenery of Bowdoinham, Richmond, and Topsham during Bowdoinham’s Open Farm Day and provide opportunities for beginner, intermediate, and advanced bikers.

10am - 8.2 mile ride along Browns Point Road. This is one of the richest farming areas in Bowdoinham, so there are many farms to explore along this route. This ride is good for kids.

11:30am - 40 mile ride through Bowdoinham, Richmond, and Topsham with short stops at farms on the route. Includes the potential alternate route for the trail along Cathance and Fisher roads plus a visit to Topsham's Head of Tide Park. This ride is best for intermediate or advanced riders.

12pm - 24 mile ride through Bowdoinham and Richmond with stops to explore the wide variety of farms along the way. This is a good for beginner or intermediate riders.

Feel free to ride and explore on your own! We will have a table with information about suggested bike routes and the Merrymeeting Trail at Mailly Waterfront Park from 9am to 3pm.

On your return, enjoy the barbecue of locally produced food from 3-6 pm. This barbecue in Mailly Waterfront Park features fresh foods from local farms. The barbecue is $12 for adults, $8 for kids, and $4 for dessert.

Preregistration for the rides is not required, but it is appreciated for help with ride planning. To register, visit merrymeetingtrail.org/events or contact Ruth Indrick at the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust at rindrick@kennebecestuary.org or 207-442-8400.

The goal of the Explore Merrymeeting Bay Bike Ride is to provide people with the opportunity to explore and enjoy the beautiful Merrymeeting Bay region and to raise awareness about the Merrymeeting Trail. Merrymeeting Trail is a proposed 25 mile trail for bikers and walkers of all ages that will travel along the railroad corridor paralleling the Kennebec River, passing through downtowns and beautiful natural scenery. It will travel through the towns of Gardiner, Richmond, Bowdoinham, and Topsham, connecting the Kennebec River Rail Trail with the Brunswick Bike Path.
