7:00am: REGISTRATION OPENS for In-person Event with Continental Breakfast/Coffee

7:30 - 8:30am: PRESENTATION BEGINS (as well as Online Webex broadcast), Q&A time near end.

SPEAKER:
Ryan McArthur, a full-time security administrator at a Maine nonprofit, and is also adjunct faculty in Technology and Security at Kaplan University and SNHU.



TOPIC DESCRIPTION:

Ryan McArthur will cover the lessons which can be learned from the largest, most significant data breaches based upon publicly available information on the Internet. Using articles from leading news organizations such as the New York Times, Computer World, Security Intelligence, etc., for each of the largest and most damaging breaches, including Equifax, this presentation briefly reviews and analyses key points of breakdown. Society expects organizations spending millions of dollars a year on Information Security would be very secure, yet, these organizations experience breaches. The core of this presentation examines common sense ideas and security industry best practices you might use to prevent a similar sequence of events happening to your organization.
