CURTIS LIBRARY BEGINS CURBSIDE PICK-UP ON MONDAY, JUNE 1 Continues to Expand Free Virtual Services   BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Curtis Memorial Library looks forward to offering contact-free, curbside pick-up of books, audio books, DVDs and other materials to the community beginning Monday, June 1. Patrons will reserve materials either online by using the Minerva catalog and their library card on the Curtis website (www.curtislibrary.com); by calling the library at 725.5242; or emailing refdesk@curtislibrary.com. Patrons will be notified by phone and/or email when their materials are ready for pick-up. Short-term, designated parking spaces will be reserved at and around the Middle Street Main Entrance to the library, where a tent and tables will be erected.  Read more...

May 5 deadline for VA, SSI recipients who don’t file a tax return and have dependents

The Internal Revenue Service today reminded Supplemental Security Income and Department of Veterans Affairs beneficiaries to act by Tuesday, May 5 if they didn’t file a tax return in 2018 or 2019 and have dependents so they can quickly receive the full amount of their Economic Impact Payment. Their $1,200 payments will be issued soon and, in order to add the $500 per eligible child amount to these payments, the IRS needs the dependent information before the payments are issued Read more...

Governor Mills Presents Safe, Gradual Plan to Restart Maine’s Economy

Governor Janet Mills today presented her Administration’s plan to gradually and safely restart Maine’s economy. The plan, which comes as the State appears to be successfully flattening the curve, establishes four gradual stages of reopening, the first of which begins  May 1st. The stages focus not on essential v. non-essential designations like those used to originally limit business operations and activities, but on the ability of a business to operate or an activity to occur in a manner that protects public health and safety. As the Administration gradually eases restrictions on some businesses and activities, it also implements protective protocols, along with broader additional health and safety measures, to protect Maine people.    Read more...

Brunswick Development Corporation’s Pandemic Emergency Loan Fund Recapitalized for Another Round of Business Assistance

“The Brunswick Development Corporation’s Pandemic Emergency Loan fund is recapitalized to $100,000 and BDC is accepting applications.  The PEL fund was replenished through a $25,000 private donation, a $25,000 match by the Town of Brunswick from Tax Increment Financing (TIF) revenues, and a BDC allocation of $50,000.   Read more...

Meals on Wheels available through Spectrum Generations Expands Service During Covid-19

With the emergence of COVID-19 some of the federal and state rules regarding who qualifies for Meals on Wheels have been temporarily changed, and now, anyone over the age of 60 who is practicing social distancing can receive meals throughout Spectrum Generations’ service territory. Disabled adults living with someone receiving meals are also eligible temporarily.   Read more...
