AHCH’s fundraiser to feature Poland Spring Players, CLT Performers and Comedian Johnny Ater

October 8, 2015

Lewiston, Maine – Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice (AHCH) is gearing up for its 12th Annual Autumn Night Out Gala & Auction on Friday October 23rd, a fundraiser for the agency’s hospice program.  In addition to many silent auction items, dynamic live auction bidding, a plentiful meal, and the games and raffles that guests have come to expect and enjoy, the 2015 Autumn Night Out Planning Committee has two new surprises in store.  This year the agency has partnered with the Poland Spring Players and entertainers from Community Little Theatre to create a hospice-focused performance.  Performers include John Blanchette, Lynn O’Donnell, Renee Mahon Davis, Roger Philippon, Jason Pelletier and Eileen Messina.  Paul Caron will accompany on piano, with Sophie Messina on lights.

Julie Shackley, President/CEO of AHCH said “every year we like to take a few moments at Autumn Night Out to center ourselves on why we are there and why our agency and our hospice program is such a worthy cause.  Sometimes we have speakers.  Last year the committee created a wonderful video about the agency that has been re-used many times since.  I am excited and inspired by our planning committee’s creativity and know that this performance will be something you won’t want to miss”.  To end the evening, Autumn Night Out guests should be ready to laugh with comedian Johnny Ater.

Autumn Night Out is held at Poland Spring Resort in Poland, ME.  The evening begins at 5:30pm with hors d’oeuvres, a wine and beer tasting, silent auction bidding and live music during the cocktail hour.  Guests are then treated to dinner, live auction bidding and entertainment.  Norm Karkos from WMTW News 8 will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the evening and William “Bill” Zaffirson has offered his skills as a professional auctioneer.

Cyndi Robbins, Chair of the Autumn Night Out Planning Committee and owner of Poland Spring Resort & Golf said “Our committee is very passionate about this cause.  Changes in funding and reimbursements continue to challenge local, independent, non-profit organizations like AHCH.  Events like Autumn Night Out are imperative to AHCH’s mission to never turn a patient away because of inability to pay.  We have all been impacted by AHCH’s hospice care in one way or another and understand the importance that end-of-life care plays, not only on the life of the patient, but the lives of all the friends and family members left behind.” The evening will also include some special touches to celebrate the agency’s 10 year anniversary since opening their Hospice House on Stetson Road in Auburn in 2005.

Tickets to Autumn Night Out are $65.00 per person and seating is reserved. Tables of 6 or 8 may also be reserved for $390 or $650. Tickets can be purchased online at www.AHCH.org or by calling 207-795-9469. Please RSVP by October 16th. Poland Spring Resort is offering a special overnight rate for Autumn Night Out guests - $65 per couple and includes continental breakfast.
