Androscoggin Bank Announces Platinum Sponsorship of Independence Association’s Annual Run for Independence

April 16, 2015 (Lewiston, ME) Androscoggin Bank announced today that it is the platinum sponsor of the Independence Association’s third annual Run for Independence, Maine’s only run focused on people with disabilities. The run will be held May 17, 2015 at Brunswick Junior High School in Brunswick, Maine and is the first 10K in Maine to include a para-athletes wheeled division. Androscoggin Bank has committed to a three-year sponsorship of this annual event.

According to Melissa Rock, Androscoggin Bank’s Vice President of Marketing and Client Relations “It is our privilege to partner with the Independence Association to support their great programs for Mainers with disabilities. The Run for Independence is a chance for the Bank’s employees to team up and make a big impact in our community. We not only want to help the Independence Association raise funds, but more importantly, we want to help them bring greater awareness of their programs for people with disabilities. It is our honor to sponsor this exciting event.”

About the Run for Independence

The Run for Independence is a community event focused on “Celebrating Ability” while raising awareness and encouraging inclusivity. Proceeds from the race will support Independence Association employment service programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. According to Dennis St. Pierre, Executive Director of the Independence Association, “This is the first of its kind 10k in Maine for individuals with disabilities. This race is designed to allow anyone with any kind of disability to enjoy participating in an event as complete equals.” The event includes a 10K Wheel Division, 10k Run, 5k Run and 1-mile Kids Fun Run.
