Chris Bennett and Becky Ramos EARN NATIONAL RECOGNITION

In recognition of professional excellence, the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification announces that  Chris Bennett and Becky Ramos have successfully completed the first level of its national paraoptometric certification program and has earned the title of Certified Paraoptometric (CPO). Chris and Becky now join the growing ranks of more than 6000 certified paraoptometrics in the nation.    They has proven the level of required knowledge of optometric practice in areas of practice management, anatomy of the eye, eye examinations, refractive status, ophthalmic prescription, ophthalmic lenses, ophthalmic dispensing, contact lenses, eye disorders and terminology. 

The Certified Paraoptometric Examination is prepared and administered by the Commission on Para-optometric  Certification (CPC) with the assistance of Professional Testing Corporation.  The purpose of this examination is to assure a level of knowledge to perform the function of a Certified Paraoptometric.  Those who successfully complete the examination will be certified with the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification as a Certified Paraoptometric (CPO).

All those that pass the CPO certification exam have also met the requirements of work and school experience and are required to attain continuing professional development to maintain their certification.  The paraoptometric certification program is the only professional certification for paraoptometrics that is recognized worldwide. 

The CPO, CPOA, and CPOT examinations are nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).  Certification programs that receive NCCA accreditation demonstrate compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs, which were the first standards for professional certification programs developed by the industry.
