Maine State Music Theatre Tickets on Sale, May 2nd

Maine State Music Theatre’s exciting 2012 season is fast approaching. While season tickets have been and remain currently available, single tickets to individual shows are going on sale, May 2^nd starting at 9:00 a.m. Theatre lovers who have been waiting patiently for seats to MSMT’s incredible mainstage productions, special concert events and children’s musicals will have to wait no more. Tickets will be available online at www.msmt.org, over the phone by calling (207) 725-8769, or in person by visiting the box office located in MSMT’s administration building at 22 Elm Street in Brunswick.

MSMT’s 2012 season is full of big titles. The season opens June 6^th with the Tony Award-winning phenomenon A CHORUS LINE being directed at MSMT by Donna Drake, a member of the original Broadway company. Starting June 27^th the theatre presents the hit movie turned hit musical LEGALLY BLONDE. MSMT’s production stars Broadway’s Alex Ellis as the flaxen femme-a-gogue Elle Woods, and MSMT favorite alumna Charis Leos as Elle’s newly found galpal Paulette. The third production is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stunning noir musical SUNSET BOULEVARD about the rise and fall of the fictional silent film diva, Norma Desmond. SUNSET BOULEVARD opens July 18^th. The season closes with the classic, big-Broadway, tap-aganza 42^nd STREET, fulfilling everyone’s longings for huge, make-you-jump-to-your-feet production numbers. 42^nd STREET opens August 8^th and will run until the final day of the season, August 25^th. Tickets to MSMT’s mainstage productions range from $36 to $59.

As if that isn’t enough, MSMT is also offering three special Monday night concert events. The first being the 2^nd place finishers of NBC’s The Sing Off, THE DARTMOUTH AIRES. The Aires are Dartmouth College’s oldest a cappella group and made quite name for themselves in front of national TV audiences with their energetic renditions of popular music from every generation. The Aires will perform on Monday, June 18^th in Brunswick. On July 9^th, Maine’s favorite folk duo, SCHOONER FARE, will once again grace the stage and be joined by brother and MSMT alumnus, Ed Romanoff. And, on August 13^th MSMT is hosting a special concert version of a recent, wildly popular production ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE starring MSMT’s original cast: Charis Leos and Jenny Lee Stern. Tickets to MSMT’s special concert events range from $17 to $30.

It’s never too early to introduce the kids to the joys of live musical theatre. MSMT offers two great opportunities to bring the little ones. On June 11^th SKIPPYJON JONES will sing and dance his way into your heart. Based on the popular book by Judy Schachner, this Theatreworks USA production is about a Siamese kitten with big ears and big dreams… including his dream to be the greatest canine sword fighter in old Mexico… wait, what? Then, on August 20^th, MSMT’s nationally recognized Intern Company produces a unique retelling of the Brothers Grimm tale, SLEEPING BEAUTY. This interpretation is written by MSMT’s own Marc Robin and Curt Dale Clark and will lovingly shatter any stereotypes of what it means to be a prince or princess. Tickets to MSMT’s children’s musicals range from $8 to $12 and school groups and camp groups are welcome.
