Mid Coast Hospital Reopens On-Site COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

BRUNSWICK, ME — On Monday, August 30, 2021, Mid Coast Hospital’s COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic will re-open at 81 Medical Center Drive for eligible individuals to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Open for walk-ins, the clinic’s hours will be Monday through Friday, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Vaccines will be available to individuals who wish to receive their first and second doses; third doses will be offered to immunocompromised people.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends people who have certain conditions that may weaken their immune systems and who received Pfizer or Moderna vaccines should receive a third dose of the same COVID-19 vaccine as the one listed on their vaccination card. To learn more about recommendations for immunocompromised people, please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/immuno.html.

The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine that the Mid Coast Hospital Vaccination Clinic has available for third dose shots. These will be given to immunocompromised individuals who received two prior doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and will be given at least 28 days after the last administered dose. Individuals who received the Moderna vaccine will need to identify a provider that has Moderna for third shot availability, or visit https://www.vaccines.gov/ for locations with available Moderna vaccines.

At this time, the clinic will not offer COVID-19 booster shots. Booster shots are not yet approved or available. Information on how to sign up for booster appointments will be posted at www.midcoasthealth.com/vaccine<http://www.midcoasthealth.com/vaccine> once they are approved.

Additionally, after August 27, 2021, the COVID-19 vaccine will no longer be available at the Mid Coast Hospital Walk-In Clinic. For more information on Mid Coast Hospital’s vaccination efforts, please visit www.midcoasthealth.com/vaccine<http://www.midcoasthealth.com/vaccine>.

“With the current increase in community transmission, we recognize the urgency to get as many people vaccinated as possible. As we plan these vaccinations, we want to be sure that we are working as effectively and efficiently as possible to meet the needs of our community,” said Christopher Bowe, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Mid Coast–Parkview Health.

Along with steady vaccination efforts, it is recommended to continue to wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet apart from others whenever possible, and clean your hands regularly. These simple steps significantly help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.
