Sweetser Peer Crisis Respite Overnight Program in Brunswick Closes

July 1, 2015

Sweetser’s Peer Crisis Respite Overnight Program in Brunswick will be closing immediately. The program provided a non-medical alternative to hospital emergency departments or crisis stabilization units for adults seeking assistance with a behavioral health crisis.

While the Peer Crisis Respite Overnight Program has been operating simultaneously at the same address of the Learning and Recovery Center (LRC) at 174 Mere Point Road in Brunswick for over 10 years, the LRC, which provides daily peer services, will remain open. The Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit, also at the Mere Point address will remain unaffected by the closure.

The daily Peer Support Service activities offered at the LRC, will continue to operate at 174 Mere Point Road in Brunswick, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm and will continue to be managed and staffed by peers in recovery. The activities at the center include educational and support groups, art and music therapy activities, gardening opportunities, and undertakings like Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) – a group intervention for adults with mental illness,

Sweetser’s outpatient clinic at 329 Bath Road will also continue to operate and offer Same Day assessment, child and adult community integration services, outpatient therapy and support groups, psychological assessments, crisis support and medication management. For information about referring to any of Sweetser’s services, please call the PromiseLine at 1-800-434-3000.
