Welcome Gary E. Jones, VP/Chief Credit Officer to Bar Harbor Bank & Trust

Curtis C. Simard, President and CEO of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, along with the Board of Directors, is pleased welcome Gary E. Jones, VP/Chief Credit Officer to Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.  Gary’s office is located in the Bar Harbor branch at 82 Main Street. 

Having more than 25 years of lending experience with financial institutions throughout the Southeastern United States, Gary is part of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s Enterprise Risk Management Team.  He is responsible for maintaining the credit culture and managing sound lending practices.

Prior to joining Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Gary was Managing Member of Risk Advisory Services for R&G Consulting Group, LLC and Risk Advisory Services Manager for Financial Institutions with McGladrey, LLP both located in Orlando, Florida.  Prior to consulting he was the EVP and Chief Lending Officer at Eagle National Bank of Miami, and SVP/Credit Officer/Senior Lender at First National Bank of South Florida in Homestead, Florida.

Gary is versed in risk analysis, loan portfolio review, due diligence assessment, SBA lending, and commercial loan underwriting.  Having worked ten years as a Chief Lender responsible for safety and soundness, Gary is skilled in underwriting, structuring and approving loans. A team leader, mentor and coach, Gary has also created policies and procedures for credit and loan operations.  During his time at various financial institutions, Gary’s business development efforts have lead to significant loan portfolio growth.

A native of Virginia, Gary holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  Over the course of his career, Gary has obtained additional specialized education in the lending area.  He is a Veteran of the US Air Force and has been an active volunteer in the following organizations: United Way, Leadership Monroe, and Marathon Economic Development Council. Gary’s hobbies include sailing, trail riding and traveling.  Gary and his wife are excited to re-locate to Hancock County on a year round basis, residing in Bar Harbor.
