WHY:

In 2018, the Maine Office of Tourism released a report that said the total expenditures for tourism in Maine in 2017 exceeded $6 billion.[1] Broken down another way, this equated to $16.5 million per day, $686,493 per hour, $11,442 per minute and $191 per second.[2]

That same report identified tourism as one of Maine’s largest industries. It accounts for 16 percent of the state’s employment or 106,806 jobs.[3] That’s larger than the populations of Portland and Bangor, Maine combined.[4]

The quality of Husson students who have graduated and gone on to become successful hospitality and tourism industry professionals has enhanced the reputation of the School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management.

Industry growth has increased demand for knowledgeable, qualified employees. This growth, combined with the outstanding reputation of Husson University’s School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management, has resulted in significant demand for Husson graduates and interns.

For more than 120 years, Husson University has prepared future leaders to handle the challenges of tomorrow through innovative undergraduate and graduate degrees.
