Water: What it Has to Teach Us

Fascinating under-water creatures surround us. CREA (Cathance River Education Alliance) and Ferda Farms, LLC team up in a mother-and-son presentation -- both are dedicated to preserving our local waterways and using them to teach. 

Pat (Friedman) Bobker will share amazing facts about the fresh water component of CREA's beloved enviro-classes for kids K-8 and grownups of all ages. Located in the preserve at Highland Green, open to the public. Ferda Farms LLC is a year-old successful startup oyster farm in the New Meadows River with locations in Brunswick and West Bath. Aquaculture is exploding in the MidCoast region and across Maine, but Ferda Farms stands unique.

Three of the four co-founders, including Sam Dorval and Max Burdis, were high school seniors when they started the operation last spring. Now the collegiate entrepreneurs of Ferda Farms strive to bring cutting edge research and innovation to Maine’s fisheries and be a model for innovative high school students in the future.
