Family Wildflower Scavenger Hunt June 2 at the Gardens
Wildflowers abound at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, especially at this time of year. The education staff has come up with a great way for families to have fun outdoors while learning about these woodland gems. The new Family Wildflower Scavenger Hunt will be on Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The program will begin with an introduction in the Bosarge Family Education Center, where every child in the group will receive a custom-made wildflower identification booklet to help in the hunt for the native beauties we call wildflowers. Families will then be invited to walk through the forested landscape and wetland areas in search of a variety of specific wildflowers. They’ll not only learn how to identify them, but will also discover fun facts about each of them along the way.
The number of families is limited, and registration is required. Appropriate clothing is recommended, as is sunscreen and insect repellent. Prices are per family: $20 for member families and $30 for non-member families. To sign up or for more information about this and other events and programs at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, call 207-633-4333, ext. 101; visit www.MaineGardens.org.; or stop by the Gardens, off Barters Island Road in Boothbay.
