Midcoast Senior College's "Winter Wisdom" - Solar Eclipses, Past, Present and Future (2024) 12:15 PM Curtis Memorial Library Morrell Room , Brunswick

Solar Eclipses, Past, Present and Future (2024) The recent total solar eclipse across the U.S. sparked much interest and hype. This presentation will examine the causes of eclipses, some past ones, why it’s so rare for us to see one, and the prospects for the next U.S. event in 2024, which will be visible in northern Maine. Kate Bracher received her A.B. from Mount Holyoke College; A.M, and Ph.D. from Indiana University; and is a member of the American Astronomical Society.

Midcoast Senior College's “Winter Wisdom 2018” is a free lecture series is sponsored by The Highlands. All lectures are open to the public and are held at Curtis Memorial Library on Wednesdays (12:15 pm to 1:45 pm) in January and early February 2018.
