Our speaker will be Patty Jones, Assistant Professor of Biology at Bowdoin College and Director of the Bowdoin Scientific Station on Kent Island. One aspect of her research examines the foraging behavior of bumblebees. In her talk she will explore the remarkable social learning abilities of bumblebees, and the consequences of such abilities for plant pollination. She will also discuss local diversity in bees as well factors threatening their populations in Maine and beyond.
