Earth Day Celebration in Brunswick

April 22, 2018

BRUNSWICK---People of all denominations, including those with no faith traditions, are encouraged to attend an Earth Day celebration on Sunday, April 22, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church on 132 McKeen Street in Brunswick.

The “topics and tea” event will feature farm-to-table and fair-trade refreshments as well as a panel of local experts who will offer action steps to attendees. The panel will consist of:

  • Mary Turner of the Food Security Coalition of Mid Coast Maine, who will speak about food recovery;
    Stephanie Miles of Maine Conservation Voters and Paul Perkins of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, who will discuss policy issues related to conservation;
    Fred Horch of Spark Applied Efficiency, who will explain smart consumer choices;
    and Bill Patterson of The Nature Conservancy, who will discuss habitat conservation.

The closing remarks will be delivered by Deborah Goodwin, a retired faculty member in environmental studies at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota.

The panel is the latest in a series of special events hosted by All Saints Parish that highlight Pope Francis’ appeal to address the needs of the earth and its people.
