Train the Trainer: Entrepreneur Funding Program Webinar Presented by MTI & SBA

You're Invited To Help MTI Advance Underrepresented Maine Innovators

Identify companies that are a possible fit for SBIR/STTR programs

The Maine Technology Institute (MTI) recently received an award from the Small Business Administration (SBA) in support of its efforts to have more participation by women and people from underrepresented communities in the federal Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) program. The SBIR/STTR program is a +$4 billion a year research and development program for entrepreneurs and small businesses to innovate and develop new products, processes, and services. This Federal and State Technology (FAST) award in year-one of a possible five-year effort, is designed to provide outreach, education and support to companies wanting to submit competitive proposals for technology feasibility and prototype development to one of the eleven participating federal agencies.

As part of our proposed FAST outreach efforts and with support from Maine Accelerates Growth (MxG), we have designed a free Train the Trainer webinar. This webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16 from 10:00-11:30AM and repeated again on Thursday, December 8 from 10:00-11:30AM. It will also be recorded and posted on the SBIR/STTR Resources page of our website.

Through the Train the Trainer webinars, our goal is to provide you -- our colleagues and partners -- with the basic information you need regarding SBIR/STTR programs along with tips and techniques which will help you identify technology-based companies that may be a good fit to SBIR/STTR programs and for referral to MTI's SBIR/STTR Technical Assistance Program (TAP). Finally, we will be asking for your feedback on an assessment tool to help gauge a company's possible fit with SBIR/STTR programs and ask you to identify potential companies to join our general SBIR/STTR workshops planned for December and January.
