In addition to the Officers and Board of Directors there are many talented business people serving on Committees of the Chamber.

These are the people that contribute to the success of the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber.

Our Committees:

The Executive Committee is composed of the Officers of the Board of Directors, the immediate past President of the Board of Directors, two other members and the President of the Chamber. The committee develops and provides management and policy recommendations to the Board of Directors and staff. It sets the monthly meeting agenda for the Board of Directors. The committee also acts on behalf of the Board between monthly meetings, if necessary. The committee meets the second Thursday of each month, 8:30-9:30 a.m., at locations to be determined by the committee members.

The Marketing Committee oversees the communications and promotion activities of the Midcoast Region emphasizing the diversity of the area, its retail shops, stores, historical and recreation areas, overnight accommodations and restaurants. It ensures that proper promotional materials are made available and widely disseminated at the Seasonal Information Centers, Chamber office and other outlets such as the State Information Centers.  The committee meets on an as needed basis.

The Government Liaison Committee establishes and ensures open and regular communications between government officials at the state and local level and the business community through the Chamber of Commerce. The committee screens public issues for possible Chamber involvement and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. It keeps the Chamber membership appraised of legislation, laws, ordinances and rulings that might affect them and their businesses.  The Committee meets as needed at a location to be determined by committee members.

The Membership/Ambassadors Committee recruits new members and retains existing members. It develops procedures and products to highlight the benefits of Chamber membership. It also provides volunteers for Chamber events.  The committee meets the third Wednesday, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Community Meeting Room, 8 Venture Ave., Brunswick Landing, Brunswick.

The Finance Committee reviews on a periodic basis the financial condition of the Chamber. It also contributes guidance for the creation of the annual budget. The Treasurer serves as chair of the committee. It meets the second Thursday of each month, 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., at locations to be determined by the committee members.

Mid Coast Edge (On Hold) works to build a thriving young professional community by promoting social, civic, career and community development. They create social and business networking opportunities that help establish them as vital elements in Mid Coast Maine's prosperous future.

Other Committees/Task Forces:

Annual Meeting, Oktoberfest Maine, B 2 B Marketplace, Job Fair and Hacker's Ball Golf Tournament.

The Midcoast Education Outreach Program oversees the connections with other providers such as  Junior Achievement of Midcoast Maine (Junior Achievement of Maine), Toastmaster's, Tri County Literacy Volunteers, Jobs for Maine Graduates and assists in programming for the Small Business Success Seminars. The Chamber supports excellence in education and these programs are designed to serve both its members and the communities of which they are a part. The commitment to education is expressed by "We Thrive by Learning." The committee meets on an as needed basis.

The Midcoast Maine Military & Community Network Committee supports the region's service members, veterans, and family members (SMVF's). This is accomplished by leveraging National, State, Regional, and Local Resources, being an active participant in the local workforce system by helping SMVF's find jobs, work with local Veterans Service Organizations and marketing Veteran related events, services, and resource. The network also works with previous Joshua L. Chamberlain Award recipients to honor an individual whose activities have served to build upon the close relationship existing between the civilian and military components of the region. The Network meets quarterly and is chaired by an SMMC Board Director.
