Maine State Music Theatre will host its second Film Friday May 14 at Brunswick’s Curtis Memorial Library.
Featuring the third show of it’s main stage season, the 1969 version of Hello, Dolly! will be screened at 6 PM and take place in the Morrell Meeting Room.
Hello, Dolly! follows a headstrong matchmaker, Dolly Levi (Barbara Streisand) as she finds a match for “half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder (Walter Matthau). The Film, directed by Gene Kelly, won three Oscars for Best Art Direction, Best Score of a Musical Picture and Best Sound. The timeless soundtrack features “Put on Your Sunday Clothes”, “Dancing”, “It Only Takes a Moment” and the title song “Hello, Dolly!”. The showing will be followed by a talk-back with Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark, who will discuss how the film compares to the stage version. Film Fridays are free and open to the public.
