Our speaker, Jackson Parker, will tell us about what his company has been doing to build Maine's renewable energy sector.  Since building Maine’s first commercial scale wind farm in 2006, Reed & Reed has become the regional leader in the wind energy construction industry.  We have seen firsthand the positive economic impact of wind power construction projects on local economies and rural areas where jobs are needed most.  In addition, wind power will help stabilize electricity rates while reducing the use of fossil fuel.  There is great potential for Maine to benefit more significantly from this abundant and renewable source of energy.

About our Speaker:

Jackson Parker, CEO of Reed & Reed, graduated from Colby College where he earned a BA in Government and received an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. 

Parker went to work for FMC Corporation in Chicago in corporate finance after graduating from business school.  There he worked on mergers and acquisitions, capital investment analysis and reviewing operating performance of the company’s various businesses.  In the early 1980’s he moved back to Maine and worked for Bath Iron Works as a Material Cost Control Manager where his department tracked the cost of materials used in the construction of guided missile frigates. 

In 1982 he joined Reed & Reed as CFO and was elected President and CEO in 1985.  During his tenure Reed & Reed has grown many times over by expanding into new markets, acquiring two competitor companies, forming joint ventures for several major projects, establishing a new business unit in the Caribbean and becoming the premier wind power services contractor in New England.
