Senior Food Drive

Topsham, Maine (October 15, 2012) – At least one in nine seniors is at-risk of going hungry or having to choose between food and medical care¹.  Comfort Keepers^® and Community Oxygen & Medical Equipment (aka Community Medical) in Topsham are asking community members to make food or monetary donations to help benefit the Maine Senior Food Bank, which includes Meals On Wheels, on Friday, Nov. 9^th and Saturday, Nov. 10^th.  Donations will be collected at Community Medical’s store at the Topsham Fair Mall from 9:00 to 4:00 on both days.  As a special thank you, contributors will receive a discount coupon for making a donation.

Some food donation suggestions include: canned fruit in light syrup, peanut butter, ensure nutrition shakes, raisins, prunes, applesauce, low sodium soups, trail mix, canned nuts, brown rice, whole grain/wheat pasta, instant oatmeal, cream of wheat, dry cereals, crackers, canned tuna and canned chicken.  Monetary donations are always welcome, too!
