American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Information Session 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300 , Topsham

Did you know the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program is celebrating its 30th birthday in 2013? Elwin Gay of Somerville, Massachusetts began driving cancer patients to treatment appointments in 1949. Elwin worked nights and drove during the day. He drove 33 years and put over 100,000 miles on his car saving lives. Road to Recovery became a national program in 1983 and volunteer drivers have provided thousands of cancer patinets with life-saving rides to their treatment appointments. The American Cancer Society is now recruiting volunteer drivers from throughout Maine to ensure all cancer patients have transportation to and from their treatments. Whether you are available once a month or once a week, even for an hour, you can be a Road to Recovery volunteer. Please join us to learn more about how you can make a difference to a cancer patient in our community. We are offering 2 sessions on Tuesday, December 4. For more information or to RSVP, please call Terry Baker at 373-3716 or email Terry.Baker@cancer.org.
