The Topsham Veterinary Wellness Center will be open for business on December 17, 2012.  As a new veterinary practice, Dr. Amy Ruksznis and her staff hope to offer Topsham area residents and their pets an educational approach to keep their pets healthy rather than waiting until they are sick to be seen by a veterinarian.  The focus will be on creating a relationship with your vet where questions and concerns can be answered during a comprehensive wellness assessment of your beloved pet.  Visits to the veterinarian should not simply focus on the vaccinations required, but be a means of achieving a whole-health approach to your pet’s well-being.  This approach to wellness includes a discussion on each of the factors that are important to pet health: Nutrition/weight, activity/lifestyle, dental, dermatological, and cardiovascular health, any presence of pain, behavior concerns, and of course, protection through immunization, If an owner is informed about what it takes to keep their pet healthy, they can incorporate this knowledge in the care they give their pets at home all year long, therefore achieving the healthiest pet possible.
