27th Annual Telecommunications and Computer Networking Conference 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring Street , Portland

Come join IT professionals from all industries and sectors to explore the largest technology infrastructure conference in the state!

The Maine Technology Users Group (MTUG) will hold its 27th Annual Telecommunications and Computer Networking Conference on Thursday, May 29th 2014, 7:30am to 4pm, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring Street, Portland, from 7:30am to 4pm. An expected 400 IT professionals will gather to share technology experiences and the latest in techniques, services and products. Keynote speaker Susan Corbett, CEO of Axiom Technologies, will present on empowering rural economies and communities through new technologies and technical educational initiatives.

The event features 15 workshops across 5 tracks: Security, Cloud, Unified Communications, Small Business IT, and “Techie Sandbox” (DIY technology/robotics). Select workshop topics include: WAN platforms for storage, phishing avoidance, Chromebooks in business, the legal side of security, integrated call management, Raspberry Pi /the “Maker Movement,” robotic telepresence, and more.

Nearly all workshops will be led or co-led by IT professionals at Maine-based organizations from a broad array of sectors, including: engineering, finance, nonprofit, law, government, professional services, construction, manufacturing, education, and retail. A true opportunity to learn from peers!

The exhibit hall of over 50 vendor booths will be open all day, with IT and telecom infrastructure and services vendors from Maine and across the nation.

Attendees will include IT and telecom professionals and senior business and operations managers from across Maine, and all sectors and industries, including government, finance, education, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, nonprofit organizations and more. With three food events around sessions, there will be plenty of time to network, share ideas, and ask questions of presenters and vendors.

The 3rd annual Maine Telecommunications Users Group Scholarships, awarded jointly with business partners FairPoint Communications, Lincolnville Communications and Norway Savings Bank, will be announced at the Conference lunch. The scholarships, managed by the University of Maine Foundation, will benefit Maine graduates studying in IT fields at a University of Maine campus.

Registration fee includes continental breakfast, buffet lunch, keynote, workshops, exhibit hall access, afternoon refreshments.
