The U.S. Small Business Administration Maine District Office is pleased to announce that the SBA, in conjunction with AARP, Maine Technology Institute and southern Midcoast Maine Chamber, will be hosting an “Encore Entrepreneur” workshop in Brunswick on April 23, 2014. The workshop will provide prospective entrepreneurs with in-person, real-world actionable information that participants can utilize in starting or growing their small business.

“One in four individuals between the ages of 44 and 70 are interested in becoming an entrepreneur,” said Marilyn Geroux, SBA District Director for Maine. “In fact, entrepreneurs over the age of 50, also known as encore entrepreneurs, are one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the United States. Given that, the SBA is working diligently with our partners to help get the word out about resources that are available to help them become successful,” added Geroux.

In addition to representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, AARP, Maine Technology Institute and Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber, panelists will include staff experts from the following organizations; Maine Small Business Development Centers, Portland SCORE, Women’s Business Center, Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, U.S. Internal Revenue Service and the Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

The workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Maine Technology Institute (MTI), which is located at 8 Venture Avenue, Brunswick Landing, Brunswick, Maine.

This workshop is entitled “Encore Entrepreneur” and primarily designed for individuals who are looking to start a business as a second career, but the event is open to people of all ages.
