KID FUNction Boosts Area Services for Children with Disabilities

Rebecca Brewster-Taylor, PT, DPT, PCS, is opening (7 May 2014) a new, comprehensive, pediatric rehabilitation clinic offering physical, speech, and occupational therapy all under one roof.  Located in Topsham, KID FUNction will offer a collaborative approach to children with disabilities and the much-needed opportunity for parents to seek care in Midcoast Maine. 

The rehabilitation clinicians at KID FUNction will use a team approach to providing the latest evidence-based interventions supported by the most recent research, evaluation tools and treatment technology.  Some common conditions that they will treat are: neurological disorders, orthopedic injuries, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, visual-perceptual challenges, developmental delays, Sensory Integration Disorders as well as speech, language, and communication delays, just to name a few.

KID FUNction will offer the LitegaitÒ partial weight-bearing system and suspended sensory integration swings.  They have a gross motor gym for use by all therapies.  KID FUNction will partner with a local equipment provider to offer positioning and mobility clinics.

KID FUNction will also offer support groups for parents of children with special needs which will be led by a clinical social worker.  These groups will meet the second Wednesday of the month beginning in June.

Rebecca is a Board Certified Pediatric Physical Therapist with 20 years experience working with children throughout New England.  She moved to Brunswick with her family in 2007 and has worked at Mid Coast Hospital Department of Rehabilitation since that time. She is passionate about helping children learn and benefit from movement.
