SPI House and Garden tour honoring Phippsburg bicentennial 10:30 PM to 3:30 PM Starts at Phippsburg Town Hall , Phippsburg

SPI Annual House and Garden Tour
Saturday, June 14th 2014 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM

This year the tour will be held in Phippsburg to honor their bicentennial celebration. Nine historic properties including several prominent homes and gardens in Small Point, Sebasco and Popham will be shown. Building styles range from a 1774 Colonial farm to late Victorian summer cottages.

Several significant periods of Phippsburg’s history are included in the tour, including four homes of the late 1700s. They feature architectural details of that period, such as thick walls, interior shutters, paneled woodwork and other details from the Colonial and Federal periods. Two homes were built as cottages in the 1890’s, a time when rusticators summered along the Maine coast in elaborate, but comfortable homes. The Phippsburg Congregational Church, with roots back to 1802, is open and will have musicians playing in the morning and afternoon. Many of the homes and gardens overlook sweeping vistas of saltwater and craggy rocks.

Pre-sale tickets ($25) are available at Now You’re Cooking, Ornament, and Brickstore Antiques in Bath, and the Gulf of Maine Bookstore in Brunswick. Call: 207-443-2174. You may purchase tickets online at info@sagadahocpreservation.org. Pick up your program and reserved tickets at Phippsburg Town Hall on Route 207 seven miles south of US Route One at Bath. On the day of the tour, tickets will be sold at the Phippsburg Town Hall for $30.
