RIBBON CUTTING 1:30 PM Brunswick Post Office, 30 Pleasant St. , Brunswick, Maine

Timothy Mayo will be administered the oath of office as the newly appointed Brunswick Postmaster on Thursday, June 12, 1:30 p.m. at the Main Post Office on 30 Pleasant Street.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand reopening of the newly renovated Post Office will follow. The public is invited to attend.

“Postmaster installation ceremonies are a long-held postal tradition and part of our proud history of public service,” said USPS Northern New England District Plant Manager Shawn Patton. “These ceremonies provide an opportunity to introduce the new Postmaster, recognize our employee’s achievement, and remind everyone that Postmasters play a vital part in our communities.”

Mayo began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1996 when he was hired as a clerk. In 1997, he was selected for the first associate supervisor program held in Maine; then he received a promotion to Supervisor of Customer Service at the Portland Post Office. A year later, Mayo was promoted to Manager of Customer Services for the Portland Post Office Main Carrier Station. In this role, he managed 110 city routes, 15 rural routes and five retail stations.

Mayo is also a 2006 graduate of the Postal Service’s Advanced Leadership Program and is the recipient of numerous special achievement awards and letters of commendation. In his new assignment as Postmaster of Brunswick, he oversees 13 city routes, 10 rural routes and 48 employees who deliver mail to more than 15,000 delivery points in Brunswick and Topsham.

“A strong Postal Service is a key part of the infrastructure of a successful community and I am happy to be serving the Brunswick Topsham community where I have been an active member for the past 25 years and have raised my children,” said Mayo. “The Postal Service wants to be a part of Brunswick’s continuing success and we will do this with a safe and committed workforce that is energized about serving our customers. It is all about customer service, both inside and outside the shop.”

Mayo also noted that the recent renovations at the Brunswick Post Office demonstrate the Postal Service’s ongoing commitment to Brunswick and Topsham customers.

“In November of 2013, the Brunswick Post Office began a construction project to repair the handicap ramp and the front entrance of the building,” said Mayo. “I hope that our customers will join us for the ribbon-cutting to celebrate the grand reopening of the Post Office; we’re excited to show off our new entrance way.”

Mayo, a 25-year resident of Topsham, is married to his wife, Carolyn Davis-Mayo. Together they have five children: Kenneth, Trevor, Brandi, Amanda and Danielle. His hobbies include fly fishing, hiking and spending time at Half Moon Pond.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
