Help celebrate Phippsburg’s 200th anniversary since their incorporation. You do not want to miss the 12th Annual SPI House and Garden Tour in Phippsburg on June 14, 2104!

Several significant periods of Phippsburg’s history are included in the tour, including four homes of the late 1700s. They feature architectural details of that period, such as thick walls, interior shutters, paneled woodwork and other details from the Colonial and Federal periods. Two additional homes were built as cottages in the 1890’s, a time when rusticators summered along the Maine coast in elaborate, but comfortable homes. The Phippsburg Congregational Church, with roots back to 1802, is open and will have musicians playing in the morning and afternoon. In addition to lovely gardens at most of the homes, there are two spectacular gardens. Many of the homes and gardens overlook sweeping vistas of freshwater, saltwater and craggy rocks. The histories of all of these homes and properties are both extensive and fascinating.

Tickets ($25 pre-sale, $30 on the day) are available in Brunswick at Gulf of Maine Books, and, in Bath, at Now You’re Cookin,’ Ornaments, Springer’s and Brick Store Antiques. To get your program, bring your ticket to the Phippsburg Town Hall (Route 209 7.3 miles from the Route 1 Bath Exit) on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
