Community Calendar

Part interactive mini-classroom, part think tank, part play space, part studio, part museum, part gallery and ALL PARTS LIBRARY – the Collaboratory is a dynamic participatory learning experience for people of all ages and interests in our community.  Collaboratory programming topics will rotate monthly and also provide a space to occasionally host larger installations that tour other libraries and museums. 

This month, Curtis collaborates with TEDxDirigo and explores the theme of their upcoming talks at the           Cabot Mill – “Mavericks and Misfits.”  Curtis will be a live simulcast site of the Talks on Sunday, November 9 in the Morrell Meeting Room.

The Collaboratory is thrilled to welcome Maina Handmaker to kick off this new interactive space today.

Maina is a farmer and artist passionate about place. She is manager of The Brunswick FoodShed Project, an effort to revitalize two hundred-year-old freight shed barns into a year-round farmers market and community gathering place for Brunswick.

A 2013 Presenter at TEDxDirigo’s GENERATE talks, Maina will share her thoughts on what it is like to prepare for and participate in this unique public speaking experience; we will view her talk together and she will catch us up on what’s happening with the FoodShed Project.
