Community Calendar

The Joshua L. Chamberlain award committee will meet on January 5th, at the Mid-Coast Veterans Resource Center, 67 Pegasus street, Brunswick, Maine At 5PM.  All past recipients are requested to attend and participate in the selection of the next award recipient. The awardee will be honored at the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber's Annual Meeting, the Big Night Out, on January 15, 2016. Beginning in 1976, the Chamber’s Military-Community Council decided that it was appropriate to recognize those individuals in our area, who through their outstanding dedication and service toward the best possible military-community relationship within this area, deserved to be singled out, congratulated, and remembered. That decision was made in recognition that it has been the collective effort of many individuals, over many years, which has fostered the very excellent relationship that exists today between the military and civilian communities in this area. Solider, statesman, educator and businessman Joshua L. Chamberlain was selected as the namesake for an annual award to be given by the Council.
