Enjoy a tour of this grand 1807 mansion at a special time of day. Considered the best example of high Federal-style architecture north of Boston, Nickels-Sortwell House was built by a wealthy shipowner and captain at the peak of Wiscasset’s heyday as a busy sophisticated seaport. Run for many years as an inn, the house was purchased by the Sortwell family and lovingly restored. See rooms not usually included on tours that offer insights into the Sortwell family’s use of the house when it was their summer home. Tours are at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Space is limited. Admission is $10 for members of Historic New England and $15 for nonmembers. Admission includes a guest pass to Castle Tucker for a tour at a later date. Reservations are required.. Call 207-882-7169 or visit www.HistoricNewEngland.org to reserve a place.
