Film and Discussion Series to Address Opiate Addiction in the Midcoast 7:00 PM Frontier Cinema, Fort Andross , Brunswick

Brunswick, ME – The Our Health: Film and Discussion Series continues on March 29 at Frontier Cinema and Café in Brunswick. Offered jointly by Mid Coast Hospital and Access Health, the next film, “The Opiate Effect” will screen at 7:00 p.m., followed by a discussion about proven prevention and treatment strategies that are helping to reduce opiate addiction in the Midcoast region. The event is free and open to the public.

A movie created by Skip Gates, the father of Will who died of a heroin overdose in 2009, “The Opiate Effect” seeks to educate as many people as possible about the harm not only in drugs, but in how we deal with the problem. The film challenges viewers to take action.

Skip Gates will be joined by Melissa Fochesato, PS-C, Director of Access Health; Eric Haram, LADC, Director of Mid Coast Hospital Outpatient Behavioral Health; and Joel Merry, Sagadahoc County Sheriff, to lead the audience in a discussion directly following the film.
