Job seekers can meet face-to-face with more than 35 employers at an April 11 job fair in Brunswick, with a focus on the healthcare industry. The recruiting event is from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Southern New Hampshire University, 10 Tibbets Drive, Ste. 200, in Brunswick. While the event has been developed with former Merrymeeting Behavioral Health employees in mind, the job fair is open to the public and anyone can attend. It's organized by the Southern Midcoast CareerCenter and Maine Department of Labor.

"CareerCenters can help Mainers in poverty move to prosperity through a good job," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "There are thousands of available jobs in Maine paying over the minimum wage. CareerCenter job fairs, workshops and additional no-cost resources can help you find a job or train for a new career."

"Companies in the healthcare industry are often in need of other occupations, such as administrative, facilities, professional services, and I.T.," added Labor Commissioner Jeanne Paquette. "Even if you aren’t seeking a healthcare occupation we encourage you to visit the job fair and speak with exhibitors about other opportunities within their organizations."

Each of the 12 statewide CareerCenters provide public-access computer workstations equipped with Microsoft Office, resume writing and cover letter software. In addition Internet access and O’Net software for individual skills assessment are provided. Employers can list their open positions on Maine's Job Bank and take advantage of the online matching system, which identifies and refers job candidates. All CareerCenter services are provided free of charge to employers and job seeking customers.
